Description
Green is having a moment, but this saree isn’t chasing a trend, it’s the kind of shade that simply belongs in a wardrobe, season after season. A deep moss-green base carries a lighter sage diamond print in geometric repeat, with the pallu opening into a denser floral border that catches a warm gold undertone in the right light. This is a saree for grounded days: a work event where you want to feel put-together without competing with the room, a family dinner, a long flight where you still want to arrive looking like yourself. Which fabric is best for a daily wear saree in a colour that won’t show every crease? Moss tones like this one are forgiving in a way that pale shades simply aren’t. The banana silk keeps the whole piece breathable, and the geometric print means small handloom irregularities blend into the pattern rather than standing out. If your wardrobe is missing a green that works as hard as this one does, this is where to start.
The Craft
The diamond and floral motifs on this saree are created through Bagh block printing, using an organic, vegetable-dye process to achieve the moss and sage tones without any synthetic colourant. Each motif is stamped by hand, one block impression at a time, which gives the repeat its slightly imperfect, clearly handmade character. The zari border is woven into the fabric during production rather than printed on afterward. Set on a base of banana silk, plant-derived, breathable, and biodegradable, the fabric offers a texture closer to cotton silk saree ease than heavier traditional silks, while still carrying real richness in colour.
