Description
Somewhere between elegant and easy, this banana silk saree pairs a soft grey-white base with a fine Bagh print and a warm gold zari border that adds just enough shine to make it occasion-ready. It’s the kind of piece that quietly does double duty, dressy enough for a family function, relaxed enough for a long work day where you still want to feel like yourself by evening. As a cotton silk saree alternative with all the ease of cotton and the sheen of silk, it’s an easy choice when you’re not sure what the day will demand of you. This saree works beautifully as a saree look for a wedding guest at a daytime event, especially paired with warm gold jewellery that echoes the border. The banana silk keeps it breathable through long hours, and the muted palette means it will pair easily with whatever you’re already wearing underneath, no colour-matching stress required. Among our pure handloom sarees, this is one of the most versatile, equally at home at a boardroom lunch or a cousin’s mehendi.
The Craft
This saree is created through authentic Bagh block printing, a Madhya Pradesh craft using hand-carved wooden blocks, natural mineral dyes, and river water to press pattern into cloth by hand. Every motif is stamped individually, giving the print its characteristically soft, slightly uneven texture. The zari border is woven into the fabric during production rather than added afterward, giving it a durability that outlasts a printed trim. Set on a base of banana silk, a plant-derived, biodegradable fibre, the fabric stays light and breathable, proof that traditional craft and everyday comfort aren’t mutually exclusive.
