Description
Some sarees ask to be noticed. This one asks to be worn slowly. Deep indigo, almost the colour of a sky just after sunset, carries a repeat of crisp white arrow motifs across its length, hand block printed with the precision that only comes from decades at the trade. The border runs wide and graphic, its geometry echoing the print within, while the pallu falls in soft folds finished with a tasseled edge. As a banana silk saree, it sits comfortably among the best fabrics for a daily wear saree, light enough for an afternoon, structured enough for something more considered. If you’re drawn to handloom silk sarees that read as contemporary rather than purely traditional, this piece leans toward a latest saree design sensibility while staying rooted in an old craft. Drape it for a gallery opening, a dinner that runs late, or simply a Tuesday you’ve decided to make yours. It doesn’t need jewellery to finish it, though it will happily wear any you choose. Some pieces are made to match an occasion. This one is made to match a mood.
The Craft
This saree uses authentic Bagh block printing, a centuries-old craft from Madhya Pradesh where hand-carved wooden blocks, natural mineral dyes, and river water are used to press pattern into cloth, a process largely unchanged for generations. Every motif is stamped by hand, one impression at a time, so no two lengths of fabric print in quite the same way. The banana silk base is entirely plant-derived, woven from the fibre of the banana stem, giving it a natural sheen, breathability, and biodegradability no synthetic blend can match. This is what makes it genuinely one of the pure handloom sarees on the market, made by hand, for you.
