Description
Pink in Banarasi silk has a way of looking effortlessly regal, and this saree is proof of that. A rich, saturated pink katan silk base carries a fine pinstripe texture through the body, letting the fabric itself do quiet work before the border even enters the conversation. And the border is where this piece truly performs, a wide, ornate gold brocade edge finished with a scalloped, lace like border that runs the length of the pallu, dense enough to be the focal point of the entire drape. This is a saree built for the big day, whether that is your own wedding function, a sister’s sangeet, or any celebration where pink and gold together feel like exactly the right amount of festive. This is a saree built for weight and richness rather than convenience, made to be photographed under string lights and remembered for years afterward. Every tassel has been finished by hand by our artisans, ready to wear the moment it arrives.
The Craft
This saree is handwoven in pure katan silk by weaving families in Benaras, with the fine pinstripe texture built into the weave structure itself and the wide gold border worked in dense brocade, a technique requiring far more zari thread per metre than a simple bordered saree. The scalloped edge along the pallu is one of the more time intensive details a Banarasi weaver can produce, often taking considerably longer than a straight bordered finish. Every tassel on this saree is finished entirely by hand by our artisans, a step we complete before the saree ever leaves our hands.
