Woh Chali

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions We Love Answering

About Our Sarees

1
Are Woh Chali sarees genuinely handwoven?
Yes, every single one. We work directly with artisan weavers in the regions where these traditions originate — Madhya Pradesh for our Banana Silk collection and Benaras for our pure katan silk Banarasi sarees. Handwoven means a person sat at a loom and made it, and that is exactly what happened.
2
What is banana silk and why is it special?
Banana silk is a natural fabric derived from the fibres of the banana plant. It combines the soft sheen of silk with the breathability of cotton, making it lightweight, lustrous, and completely plant-based. It is also biodegradable — which means it is as kind to the earth as it is to your skin. Our banana silk sarees are woven by artisans in Madhya Pradesh and printed using authentic Bagh block-printing techniques with natural dyes.
3
What is Bagh printing and is it used on all Banana Silk sarees?
Bagh printing is a centuries-old block-printing craft from the Bagh region of Madhya Pradesh, where hand-carved wooden blocks, natural mineral dyes, and river water are used to create intricate, repeated patterns on fabric. Yes, our Banana Silk collection uses authentic Bagh printing — no digital prints, no synthetic dyes.
4
What makes your Banarasi sarees different from what I find elsewhere?
Our Banarasi sarees are pure katan silk — not blended, not semi-silk, not power-loom. They are handwoven by weaving families in Benaras who have practiced this craft for generations. We source directly from these weavers, which means no middlemen, no quality compromise, and no inflated retail pricing.
5
Do your sarees come with a blouse piece?
Yes, our sarees come with a running blouse piece unless otherwise specified on the product page.

Orders & Delivery

1
How do I place an order?
You can browse and order directly on our website at wohchali.com. You can also reach us on WhatsApp or Instagram if you'd like help choosing a piece before purchasing.
2
How long does delivery take?
We typically dispatch orders within 5-9 business days. Delivery timelines depend on your location but generally range from 10–15 business days across India.
3
Do you ship across India?
Yes, we ship to all major cities and towns across India. If you have a question about delivery to a specific location, drop us a message on WhatsApp.
4
Will I receive exactly the saree I see in the photos?
We photograph our sarees in natural light to represent colour and texture as accurately as possible. Since every piece is handwoven, there may be very minor variations in weave or motif placement, this is not a defect. It is the nature, and the beauty, of handmade.

Returns & Damage

1
What is your return policy?
We do not accept returns unless the saree arrives damaged or defective. Because our pieces are handwoven in small batches and often limited edition, we are unable to offer returns for change of mind or sizing preferences. We encourage you to reach out to us before purchasing — we are happy to share detailed photos, fabric swatches, and measurements to help you choose confidently.
2
What do I do if my saree arrives damaged?
We're sorry if that happens — it is rare, but we take it seriously. Please WhatsApp us within 48 hours of delivery with a short video or photograph of the damage, and we will resolve it promptly. Your trust means everything to us.

Caring for Your Saree

1
How do I care for my Banana Silk saree?
Banana silk is best hand-washed gently in cold water using a mild detergent, or dry cleaned for longer life. Avoid wringing. Dry in shade. Store folded in a soft muslin cloth. Detailed care instructions are available on our Care Instructions page.
2
How do I care for my Banarasi katan silk saree?
Pure katan silk Banarasi sarees should ideally be dry cleaned. If hand-washing at home, use cold water and an extremely gentle silk-safe detergent - never soak. Store wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Full care guidance is on our Care Instructions page.

Craft & Authenticity

1
How do I know my saree is authentically handloom and not machine-made?
Every Woh Chali saree comes with our assurance that it is handwoven by artisans we work with directly. Handloom fabric has a character that machines cannot replicate - slight irregularities in weave, natural variation in texture, and a softness that develops over time. These are not flaws. They are fingerprints of the craft. If you ever have doubts, reach out to us and we will walk you through exactly who made your piece and how.
2
Is Woh Chali a sustainable brand?
Sustainability is not a label we chase, it is a natural consequence of how we work. Banana silk is plant-based and biodegradable. Our dyes are natural. Our supply chain has no middlemen. Our pieces are made in small batches, not bulk. And every purchase directly supports artisan livelihoods. We believe the most sustainable thing you can do in fashion is buy less and buy better.
